Falling technology prices have made RFID more attractive for automated data collection applications, but new advancements are helping to expand RFID use. Tags are now available that can work on metal, in wet environments, and in other RF-unfriendly places. "Adoption of RFID in such new harsh environment applications continues to grow rapidly due to new technologies that overcome traditional challenges, and the proven business value of tracking assets using RFID, such as time saving, labor savings, accuracy, real-time visibility, business intelligence, and automation," says Nikhil Deulkar, senior product line manager at Impinj.
