Intermec Incorporated has announced a free webinar discussing how a transition to Windows Mobile 6.1 will affect users of rugged mobile computers. The one-hour event, "Windows Mobile 6.1: Benefits for Mobile Computer Users," is scheduled for Jun, 30 at 9 AM PDT.

Intermec says the live event will "provide insight from both Intermec and Microsoft" regarding how Windows Mobile 6.1 affects the performance, security, device management, battery life, virtual memory, and other capabilities of mobile computers. It will be presented by Kelly Ungs, a principal product manager at Intermec, and Jason Johnson, a pre-sales engineer with Microsoft.

Rugged handhelds from Intermec -- such as the CK61ex, CK61, CK31ex, and CN3 (pictured above) -- have typically offered purchasers the choice of Windows CE 5.0 or Windows Mobile 5.0. However, Intermec apparently plans to upgrade at least some of these devices to Windows Mobile 6.1, since the company says its webinar will highlight "the important differences between Mobile 5.0 and Mobile 6.1, and how the migration, compatibility and benefits for Intermec devices using Mobile 6.1 will affect users."
