Accu-Sort Reaches New Landmark — Auto-ID Pioneer Sells Its 8,000th Camera

Accu-Sort Systems Inc., one of the first companies to sell auto-ID systems, has reached another landmark with the sale of its 8,000th camera.

Since releasing its first cameras in 1997, the company has created a number of innovations, including CCD cameras and dimensioning systems, high-speed focusing technology and coplanar LED illumination.

Now producing its fifth-generation camera, Accu-Sort continues to drive quality and performance in the industry by making equipment smaller, better and easier to customize, according to Andrew Ross, product marketing manager with Accu-Sort Systems.

In less than 10 years, the industry has seen dramatic change, Ross said. "Cameras today are smaller and don't use sodium lights. They use LED illumination, a more reliable and cost-effective solution that can be turned off when not in use. Cameras today can read smaller bar codes and offer more scanning options, including a variety of lens and sensor combinations, image capture solutions and remote programming/diagnostics that help customers optimize performance for a given application."
