Extended Systems Introduces Live Connect Automated Data Delivery Gives Users Always-On, Always-Connected Experience
The "Live Connect" capability of the company's latest release of XTNDConnect Server mobile infrastructure software allows automated delivery of email and PIM, as well as mission-critical corporate information from enterprise database applications such as SAP, ERP and CRM.
As an alternative to the user-initiated sync model, Live Connect simply notifies workers that e-mail has been delivered and is available for review. Similarly, a field service worker can receive information about changes on a work order just moments after the order is routed and the originator of the order can receive an automatic notification once it has been fulfilled.
"By adding unattended delivery of information to its mobile solutions kit, Extended Systems ensures that email, work orders, customer information, inventory figures and other critical enterprise information is accessible and up-to-date," said Senthil Krishnapillai, senior product manager of GroupWare solutions at Extended Systems.
"Live Connect offers immediate benefits by supporting all popular mobile devices on the market today. And, as wireless devices and networks mature, Live Connect will advance. This is just the first in a series of end-user functionality enhancements Extended Systems plans to release this year."
"As the number and type of mobile workers continue to proliferate across the U.S. and the world, it is critical for mobile infrastructure software providers to offer solutions addressing the multiple access needs of these users," said Stephen Drake, Mobile Infrastructure Software Program Manager, at IDC, a leading provider of global IT research and advice.
"In order to address the many needs of organisations seeking to deploy wireless and mobile solutions, leading vendors must continue to enable enhanced access to corporate data via a variety of connection methods."
