New Cross Dock Solution Provides LTL Carriers with Quick and Accurate Weights

Glacier Computer, a leading developer of versatile and powerful industrial computer systems for harsh environments, and Synergistic Systems, the nation's leading developer of cross dock and yard management software packages, announces its LTL hardware and software solution for use with existing Weightonix scales.

Synergistic's latest cross dock software, Synergy Cross Dock 3.0, now has an interface that allows for a direct connection between the Weightonix scale and Glacier's rugged GX 1000 and GX 1200 industrial computers. Glacier units mounted on forklifts or at freight terminal dock doors interface directly with the Weightonix scale via a standard serial interface. This enables the use of existing pro data when reweighing freight and eliminates the need for additional hardware on the forklift to interface to the scale. In addition, reweighs can be sent to the carrier's host in real time via the 802.11 B/G wireless connection on the Glacier unit.

LTL carriers utilizing this complete hardware and software solution are able to quickly reweigh a customer's shipment and verify or correct the weight accordingly. The adjusted data is sent instantly to the host computer and then directly to the customer with a corrected bill.
