Glide Effortless Goes Mobile Providing Full Access To All Of Your Media, Contacts, And Email From Your Mobile Device
Literally Carry Your Life in the Palm of Your Hand
TransMedia launched today Glide Mobile version 1.2 of Glide Effortless at http://www.glidedigital.com/ available for Mac and PC users.
Glide Mobile ushers in a new era in integrated computing and communications.
The possibility of managing all of your video, music, documents, photos, contacts and email from your mobile device has been at the top of many wish lists. Significant obstacles such as limited storage, hardware and software limitations, network speeds and format and device incompatibilities have prevented this from occurring.
Available today, Glide Mobile is the first service designed to enable rights based management, preview, upload, download and sharing of unlimited files (video, audio, images, documents, contacts and more) with anyone from virtually any mobile handset or PC regardless of Operating System (OS) or file format.
With Glide Mobile you can send up to 40 GBs of files from your mobile handset to anyone in the world in a tiny 5k email. Glide Mobile is secure, fast to browse media and easy to navigate. Rights can be assigned to files and contacts and managed equally well from a PC or mobile handset. Think of the convenience and flexibility it can create in your personal life or for your business.
"Glide Mobile introduces compatibility and integration to the world of mobile devices providing consumers and businesses with unprecedented flexibility to securely access and share their media from their handsets," said TransMedia Chairman and CEO, Donald Leka. "Glide Mobile is designed to empower users to securely share files with anyone regardless of device, OS, software or file format and control how their files are accessed. This technical breakthrough is made possible by the flexible, scalable and extensible Glide system architecture."
Glide is a centralized, rules based and identity based system designed to be device and network neutral that governs file sharing, communications and ecommerce. Glide puts the user in control in terms of who can access the user's email inbox, who can view the user's files and web publications and what is private and public on the Internet. Users can securely share files as view only, downloadable and/or modifiable as well as upload files to and from virtually any computer or mobile device.
Glide functions as a universal translator breaking down proprietary software and format barriers by automatically converting video, audio, image and document files uploaded by all users into the necessary formats and sizes optimal for specific devices and networks. All that is required for senders and recipients to manage and securely share their files with others is a browser, connectivity and a device of their choosing. Effectively, Glide removes technical barriers between devices and systems and empowers users to govern how and when their files are accessed at all times.
Glide Mobile is available today on the Treo 700W (and other handsets running the Windows Mobile 5.0 OS). On May 17th, Glide Mobile will be available for the Motorola Razr and Nokia 60 series handsets. On May 25th, Glide Mobile will be released for Sony Ericsson handsets. Other devices will quickly follow.
Glide Mobile: A Breakthrough for Mac OS X Users
For the first time, Mac OS X users have a full featured and compatible mobile solution that work seamlessly with their Macs. For example, using a Treo 700W running the Windows Mobile 5.0 OS, Mac users can:
- upload QuickTime movies and AAC music files to Glide and view and listen to them in the Mobile Windows Media Player on their handsets (without any manual file conversions);
- import Mac Address Book Contacts into Glide and automatically access and edit contact information from their handsets; and
- send email using their .Mac email addresses and share up to 40GBs of files in tiny 5K emails. Mac users can control access rights to shared files from their handsets. Users can change or revoke rights to media files at any time even after an email has been sent.
On May 25th Mac users will also be able to automatically import their Safari web favorites and store and view them in Internet Explorer on their mobile handsets.
