ICTSI Chooses JLT Mobile Computers For Two New Terminals In Papua New Guinea

The new Lae and Port Moresby terminals have installed rugged VERSO ™ 12 vehicle terminals to optimize the efficiency of daily handling operations within containers.

Vaxjo, Sweden (GLOBENEWSWIRE) - JLT Mobile Computers , manufacturer and supplier of reliable vehicle terminals suitable for the most demanding work environments, consolidates its long-standing collaboration with the port operator ICTSI (International Container Terminal Services, Inc. ) with the installation of its VERSO ™ 12 vehicle terminals in the two new container terminals of the company, in Papua New Guinea.

ICTSI is one of the top five maritime port operators in the world, with 32 terminals located in 19 countries. The JLT partner, Autepra , supplied and installed the VERSO 12 rugged vehicle terminals to optimize the efficiency of the daily container handling activities at two new ICTSI terminals: South Pacific International Container Terminal Ltd (SPICT) in Lae and Motukea International Terminal Ltd in Port Moresby. Last year these two terminals contributed to increasing the volume of shipments managed by ICTSI by 6%.

ICTSI is also carrying out the project to increase the operational efficiency of SPICT, the largest container terminal in Papua New Guinea. To date, the operator has invested over 4.51 million dollars in the terminal, already exceeding the expenses foreseen for 2022, and more than half of the resources initially allocated to improve operational efficiency.

The supply of JLT VERSO 12 vehicle terminals guarantees efficiency gains, continuity of operation and full integration with the Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS). JLT Mobile Computers signed a five-year partnership with the Navis Ready Program in March 2019 . The agreement establishes the certification of JLT's rugged vehicle terminals for use with all major releases of the Navis N4 terminal operating system, for the next five years. The Navis Ready certification guarantees customers that the JLT Mobile Computers equipment has passed the rigorous Navis testing procedures.

Tomas Girdzevičius, CEO of Autepra, prime contractor and partner of JLT Mobile Computers, said: "We have been working with ICTSI worldwide since 2013, and we are proud to be the exclusive suppliers of rugged vehicle terminals. JLT devices are used with the TOS Navis in the daily operation of the terminals, to bring efficiency to ICTSI's activity. "

"When ICTSI acquired two new terminals in Papua New Guinea in 2018," added Girdzevičius, "the company turned to us for the supply of JLT rugged computers. ICTSI knows us, and knows that it can rely on us for supplies anywhere in the world. "

Beatrice G. Mahuru, General Manager - Corporate Affairs of ICTSI South Pacific, said: "The maritime terminals play a central role in the supply chain, and we at ICTSI South Pacific focus on digitization and automation to increase the efficiency of the activity in Papua New Guinea. We are proud of our collaboration with Autepra, which simplifies our work thanks to intelligent solutions. "
