Is Your GPS Idle Time Data Accurate?

It's a well-known fact that idling a vehicle reduces fuel efficiency and increases costs. An idling vehicle gets 0 miles per gallon, which reduces overall MPG for the fleet. And the cost of fuel has increased more than 200% over the past five years.

Like many fleet operators, you may be using a GPS telematics solution with engine diagnostic capabilities to monitor idle times. However, depending on the type of GPS system you use and how it was installed, you may not be tracking idle time data as accurately as you think, which can impact your ability to lower idle times and save money on fuel.
