MEDITECH Supports SATO Printer
SATO, a pioneer in the Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) industry and a leader in barcode printing, labeling, and EPC/RFID solutions, announced that its GL408e printer is now supported by Medical Information Technology, Inc. (MEDITECH) for use with its MEDITECH Laboratory and Microbiology product, as well as several other applications.
The GL408e can now be deployed for barcode label printing at hospitals and other healthcare facilities utilizing MEDITECH solutions without additional software or programming. This will speed integration of the printers, while reducing the total cost of deployment for the labeling solution.
"This is a significant step forward for SATO's customers in the healthcare industry," said Gary Krause, director of marketing for SATO America. "With this certification, end users can now easily deploy the GL408e into their MEDITECH environment in a much more efficient and cost-effective manner and we are honored to be supported by this leading HCIS solutions company."
MEDITECH provides fully integrated Health Care Information Systems (HCIS) to hospitals and other healthcare providers. The GL408e is supported for the laboratory functionality in MEDITECH's Laboratory and Microbiology product; the MEDITECH Pharmacy application; the order entry functionality in the company's Enterprise Medical Record product; and the MEDITECH Radiology application. The unit can also print from MEDITECH's command line.
The GL408e is a rugged, 203dpi printer designed for compliance labeling, asset tracking, warehouse management, logistics, retail and laboratory applications. The printer supports SATOnet CONNECT printer management utility tool, and can be upgraded to print and encode RFID labels.
"We are pleased to have achieved this level of support for the MEDITECH solution suite," said Jamie Stallings, healthcare product manager for SATO America. "SATO's relationship with MEDITECH further enhances our ability to provide fast, reliable printing solutions for demanding healthcare and compliance applications."
