Mobile Handheld: CipherLab's 9500 Portable Terminal Wins the Mobile Star Award
CipherLab, a leading innovator in Automated Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) for the retail, warehouse and distribution markets, recently announced that its 9500 Series Portable Terminal for Microsoft Windows Pocket PC and CE captured a Gold Star in the Mobile Star Awards from MobileVillage , the 14-year leader in market development and news services about mobile technology. The 9500 Series won in the enterprise hardware category for rugged wireless handhelds against competitive products from Intermec and LXE.
The annual Mobile Star Awards honors the best companies, products, deployments and leaders in mobile and wireless technology. Winners are chosen by subscribers to Go Mobile MobileVillage's free online newsletter for technology executives, mobile professionals, IT managers, developers and top tech journalists.
"Today, there are more mobile and wireless products, and more mobile users, than ever before," said MobileVillage editor Gary Thayer. "So it's natural for people to see and compare what's out there. MobileVillage readers have a great knowledge of mobile products and success stories, and the fact that their votes selected the Mobile Star winners means that knowledgeable users actually picked the products and services that made it to the top."
CipherLab launched the 9500 series in 2006. With a small form factor, ergonomic design and a casing that surpasses industry drop standards, the 9500 offers a significantly greater barcode reader distance range compared to competitive products, as well as increased memory, longer battery life and a larger display.
"Logistics applications aren't well served by the short range and limited usability of typical barcode readers," noted Robert Hossary, vice president, Americas for CipherLab. "The 9500 was specifically designed to meet the need for a robust, rugged and cost-effective data capture solution for more demanding environments, such as the warehouse or distribution setting. We're very pleased that the readers of MobileVillage share our enthusiasm for the product."
