New Industrial-Grade Label Applicator From Avery Dennison Provides Fast, Reliable Operation In Continuous-Duty Packaging Applications
A new industrial-grade label applicator for continuous-duty applications in shipping, packaging, loading-dock, warehouse and distribution center environments is now available from Avery Dennison Printer Systems. The applicator, called the Avery Dennison ALS 204, automatically applies preprinted product ID labels to cartons, boxes and other items at packaging-line speeds up to 40 meters per minute.
"The ALS 204 is well suited for heavy-duty, round-the-clock labeling operations," says Dan Williams, marketing manager, Avery Dennison Printer Systems. "Unlike some applicators, which have plastic cabinet panels, the ALS 204 features die-cast, all-metal construction. It can even be upgraded to withstand direct water washdowns."
Precise Label Application, Remote Operation
The ALS 204 is equipped with advanced electronics and dual precision stepper motors for fast, accurate label application. The applicator is controlled directly or from a remote PLC via serial, parallel, wireless, Ethernet or software interfaces. It can also be optionally configured to apply encoded RFID labels.
The ALS 204's metal cabinet is powder-coated for corrosion resistance. It can be upgraded to IP 65 electrical-enclosure standards, indicating an ability to operate in harsh, dust-filled environments that are subjected to direct washdowns.
The ALS 204 applies labels in widths up to 4 inches (100 mm) and accommodates label rolls up to 12 inches (300 mm). The applicator's dispensing edge can be rotated 90 degrees; the entire unit can be rotated 360 degrees. The 19.6-inch-tall applicator has a compact 13.6 by 19.6-inch footprint. It is available in right- and left-hand configurations.
