Leading UHF Gen 2 radio frequency identification (RFID) chip and reader supplier Impinj, Inc. today announced an agreement with the world's largest technology distributor, Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), to distribute Impinj's high-performance Speedway™ UHF Gen 2 RFID reader.

The distribution agreement will be facilitated by Ingram Micro's Data Capture/POS Division, a leading distributor of automatic identification/data capture (AIDC), RFID, point-of-sale (POS) and mobile computing products. The agreement serves the growing number of North American RFID value added resellers (VARs) incorporating the Speedway reader into complete "Powered by Impinj" RFID systems. Successfully deployed in large retail and distribution environments, the Speedway UHF Gen 2 reader significantly improves manufacturing and supply chain efficiencies and supports a broad range of use cases at the pallet, case and item-level.

"Impinj's Speedway reader is an excellent addition to our RFID product portfolio," said Justin Scopaz, director, vendor management for Ingram Micro. "The Speedway reader provides an ideal platform for RFID VARs to develop comprehensive end-customer solutions that transform small RFID pilots into successful, large-scale deployments."

"Our distribution agreement with Ingram Micro gives RFID VARs, system integrators and end-users unprecedented access to the world's best RFID reader technology for numerous applications," said Dimitri Desmons, vice president of RFID marketing at Impinj. "Ingram Micro's broad and trusted distribution capability supports Impinj's aggressive RFID adoption initiatives in the retail, manufacturing, logistics and transportation industries, and across key vertical market segments such as pharmaceuticals and apparel."

Impinj's Speedway reader delivers best-in-class read reliability and throughput and includes a flexible software architecture that facilitates maintenance and monitoring options. The Speedway reader also features a unique mono-static antenna design that substantially reduces ownership costs and complexity compared to other reader solutions.
