Supply Chain Workshop: Book From Living Legends Spawns New Workshop

The A2B Network announced recently that Ken Ackerman, Founder of WERC and President of Ackerman Company, and Art Van Bodegraven, Partner in The Progress Group, LLC – both of whom developed, and now deliver, the CSCMP seminar series – have now designed a new, executive-level workshop based on their groundbreaking new book, to be released May 15, 2007. This revealing new workshop will be launched at the 2007 D/C Conference and Expo taking place at the Navy Pier in Chicago, IL on May 22-24, 2007.

Ken and Art's new book, Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management – An Essential Guide For 21st-Century Managers, is being published by Agile Business Media, LLC, publishers of DC Velocity, which features their monthly column "Basic Training." This book presents fresh takes on both the tactical and the strategic elements of contemporary supply chain management – and the issues that keep managers up at night.

Their new workshop is a powerful, two-day Executive Issues program that dovetails with the revitalized executive focus of the D/C Expo and Conference. Featuring interactive, topical and peer-exchange "open mike" sessions, the workshop will give executives a comprehensive overview of key supply chain issues of the day and into the future. "Executives in supply chain positions – and in general management –have to deal with issues and questions today that didn't exist (or weren't important) a few years ago," stated Art Van Bodegraven. "Now they're affecting the lifeblood of companies. This workshop will give insights – and answers – that can help them get contemporary supply chain challenges under control."

Ken and Art are the dynamic duo who originated CSCMP's very popular Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management workshop series. Ken has been active in logistics and warehousing management for his entire career. Before entering the consulting field, he was chief executive of Distribution Centers, Inc., a public warehousing company which is now part of Exel Logistics USA. In 1980, Ackerman sold the company and joined the management consulting division of Coopers & Lybrand. In 1981, he formed the Ackerman Company, a management advisory service. Ken has consulted and taught on five continents, and is in constant demand as a speaker at major conferences and events. He is editor and publisher of Warehousing Forum, a monthly subscription newsletter, and has worked with Art for over twenty-five years.

Art wears a number of hats as a Partner in The Progress Group LLC, President of Van Bodegraven Associates, and the five-term Chairman of The Supply Chain Group AG. Art has been a management consultant for 38 of the 46 years in his business career. After a series of incarnations in Information

Systems, Manufacturing, Organizational Performance, and Consumer Products during his 25-year stint with Coopers & Lybrand (subsequently PwC Consulting, now IBM), Art focused on supply chain management and logistics. A prolific writer, speaker, and teacher, Art's work has appeared in many publications. He is a frequent speaker, track chair, and topic chair at CSCMP and WERC annual conferences, and has also appeared at IIE, SES, SCMIS, APICS and AMA. The co-developer of Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management and Fundamentals II, the CSCMP workshops, he has been the co-producer of Georgia Tech's Supply Chain Short Course for nearly ten years. He has also developed programs for events at Clemson University and the University of Louisville.

"When you have two of the leaders in the supply chain profession joining forces to take executives into the 21st century, the results are bound to profoundly influence the bottom line," says Shubhra Wells, President of The A2B Network. "We are thrilled and honored that they chose to offer this workshop to the industry at the D/C Expo & Conference."
