Syclo Rated Among Major Mobile Players In Industry Report

Source: Syclo LLC

Leading mobile solutions developer Syclo today announced its inclusion in a market report recently released by Gartner, Inc., a research and advisory firm, (Marketscope: Multichannel Access Gateways, June 23, 2005 by M. King) that provided an update of vendors that offer multichannel access gateways (MAGs). MAGs are open, flexible platforms that allow organizations to develop multiple mobile applications using a single framework providing shorter development cycles and lower total cost of ownership.

The MAG market has "matured significantly," states the Marketscope report. "…Vendors that have made it this far have the staying power and the products to prosper." Syclo was included among eight companies on the list. According to the report, the significant decline in MAGs rated came as a result of some vendors that "have failed to deliver on their stated strategies or overlooked the shifts in buying patterns and customer needs that have occurred over the past 12 months."

According to the report, "More and more firms are deploying mobile applications, but many are suffering from the traditional "siloed" approach to enabling them, as management and security costs rise with each new rollout. As a result, investment in a broader approach – using multichannel access gateways (MAGs) – has risen dramatically over the last 18 months. We expect this trend to continue as still more companies find that the traditional way of giving mobile workers access to business software fails to deliver overall value."

"Our development strategy with the Agentry platform has been to provide more value to our customers, and our rating by Gartner, we feel, is proof that we have delivered on that promise," said Richard Padula, president and CEO of Syclo. "Our technology is cost-effective, easy to implement, and provides all the functionality customers require to get the most out of their mobile deployments."

Syclo offers both pre-integrated mobile applications, as well as a powerful MAG that allow companies to deploy multiple mobile solutions that can be supported by a single platform. Refined through a decade of development, Syclo's Agentry is an integrated development environment and mobile deployment platform that employs a powerful 4GL framework, which eliminates code writing and insulates developers from the various complexities typically associated with designing and deploying mobile applications.

With Agentry, 80 percent of the application is already built allowing the designer to concentrate on the business solution, while the underlying Agentry components handle the technical details.

"By offering technology that is less complex, we allow our customers to focus on the business process improvements they want to achieve," Padula added. "These process improvements are the key to achieving recurring ROI from mobile deployments."

Agentry benefits include:

  • Porting a single mobile application definition to various devices and utilizing a variety of communications methods – including real-time wireless, offline computing or intermittent wireless connectivity.
  • Support for composite mobile transactions that trigger and update multiple enterprise applications.
  • Out of box integration with more than 25 different peripherals such as bar code scanners, wireless printers, GPS, GIS, and RFID.

Syclo also offers its SMART Suite for asset management, including Work Manager, Inventory Manager, Auditor, Inspections and more. Deployed at more than 500 organizations across industries, the SMART product line is also built on Agentry, allowing organizations to start with a mobile deployment for their maintenance or field service teams, and later build out their mobile programs using Agentry.
